CNET launches, a new blog covering web apps has relaunched after several years hiatus. The domain used to resolve to a subdomain, and was also a stand-alone site for a while that was still CNET branded (see the Wayback Machine's archived page from 2000, with broken graphics, meh). The site was pretty much abandoned during the economic downturn.

The new site's pretty cool, although I wish it contained a directory instead of just category-based browsing of posts.

Both Webware and Crave, the gadgets blog CNET launched a couple weeks ago, were designed by GoToMedia. GoToMedia is headed by Kelly Goto, who co-wrote a book I recommend titled Web ReDesign 2.0: Workflow that Works.

The two new blogs indicate a definite shift in look-and-feel for CNET sites. I've heard the older CNET blogs are going to get similar makeovers. Much needed, if you ask me.
