I prefer Joe Haldeman's instructions for bacon-cooking. The book isn't here for me to quote, but I think he said something about doing it naked.

The bacon guy is "DIAW" in my opinion, the best way to make bacon is Alton Brown's way, bake it in the oven. A bunch of people on Chow agree with me. Less mess and a lot less work, always perfect! I love bacon.

I saw all the comments on the Chow video about oven-baking bacon too, and that method seems smarter to me as well (although I've never tried it).
