Scary thing is, it actually makes sense
"As we know, there are known knowns. There are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns. That is to say, we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also uknown unknowns. The ones we don't know we don't know."
-Donald Rumsfeld, at a DoD news briefing, 2002

This makes sense? NO. Not to me. Not now, anyways.

Let's break it down into manageable bits.
"As we know... there are things we know." -- simple enough and pretty straight forward. We know stuff.
"We also know there are known unknowns." -- Here's an example. The EXACT number of people in India. We know there are people in India. We know about how many people there are. BUT we don't know the EXACT number of them. That is unknown. But we know we don't know the exact number. It's a known, unknown.
"But there are also unknown unknowns..." -- There are things like animals, stars, terrorist attacks, volcano explosions that will all be surprises in our future. We don't know what those surprises will be, nor do we know anything about them now. They are unknown fully.
Yay, Geritol!!
