This monstrous bottle of Vess Lemon Lime soda was spotted in downtown St. Louis next to the highway. It made even the Arch look small ;)
Now I kinda wish I had made Velmer stop the car earlier that day so I could've snapped the huge Conoco sign that was as big as a hot air balloon, but oh well.

Great photo! Hey, I was just reading Velma's blog -- will you be posting photos of the abandoned buildings and railcar she mentioned?
Also, I think we need a report on the coffee in Missouri. Good? bad? Weak? Strong?

I will indeed be posting a bunch more photos from MO. I'm hoping to have time after work sometime this week, but it's kind of a full week what with just getting back and needing to catch up on a bunch of things at home and at work.
The coffee in MO overall was pretty good. Varied a lot depending on where you went. By that I mean what sort of establishment you went to, not so much what region or town. But that's normal anywhere; one doesn't expect to get great coffee at a fast food restaurant or a 7-11, for example.
But there were plenty of good cafes in the St. Louis area (Velms took me to her favorite, Kaldi's, and a couple others), some with free wireless.
There was apparently just one cafe in Jefferson City, but it was pretty good and they had free wireless. And air conditioning, of course ;) I can't remember the name of it, but the redhead will probably chime in to remind me.
There was a really good one in Columbia too (college town, so no surprise), which I also can't remember the name of.
And of course, Velma gets props for keeping me well-fueled at her dad's home, by brewing a pot for me each morning before waking me up. Aww, she's so good to me. 'Course, her dad's always got coffee brewing all day long anyway. My kind o' guy!

THE VESS BILLION BUBBLE DRINK BOTTLE - WHEN I WAS YOUNGER AND THE VESS BOTTLE STILL WORKED WE MADE OUR PARENTS TAKE US BY IT EVERY TIME WE WERE DOWNTOWN - THE BOTTLE LIT UP VERY BRIGHT AND THERE WERE REAL BUBBLES THAT CAME OUT OF THE TOP OF THE BOTTLE, IT WAS THE COOLEST THING YOU EVER SAW AS A KID
